Motorola introduced WiMAX- adapter for laptops and PCs

Motorola has announced the world's first WiMAX- adapter for laptops and PCs. New, outwardly looks like a normal USB-drive ( flash drive ), was designated USBw 100.

It is reported that the company plans to release three versions of the device: they will support, respectively, the frequencies of 2.3, 2.5 and 3.5 GHz, which are used for WiMAX technologies in different regions of the world. To connect the Motorola USBw 100 requires the most common USB-port, which means that new product can be used with virtually any computer. With it you can easily secure broadband access to email, Web pages, streaming audio and video, GPS- services, Internet telephony and other network capabilities. Unfortunately, no information about the price USBw 100 yet, only know that it will be available in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Recall that the technology of WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is designed to provide universal wireless connectivity at greater distances for a wide range of devices (from desktop and laptop computers to mobile phones). It is based on the IEEE 802. 16, which is also called WirelessMAN.
